Engineering Manager


Purpose

To lead the implementation of the company’s strategy plan with respect to engineering and manage a team of professionals in providing high quality engineering services in order to support operations, in compliance with standards


Minimum Requirements

1. Education:

A first degree in chemical engineering


2. Experience and Competencies:

28 – 32 years experience in engineering in an increasingly responsible position, in a related industry

Good knowledge of process operations of plants

Good knowledge of international engineering standards

Leadership skills

Communication skills.

Analytical skills

Negotiation Skills

Budgeting skills


3. Responsibilities:

Strategy Implementation: Lead the translation of the overall engineering strategy into goals and activities for the maintenance deparment and guide implementation of same in order to support
the operations in attaining its objectives

Budget Management: Prepare departmental budget, and once approved, ensure that expenditure is as per budget and report any risk of deviation to the VP Engineering for appropriate action, in order to ensure minimal budget over-run

Policy Development: Lead the development of engineering-related policies and standards for the company, ensuring that best practices and industry standards are reflected in the policies, in order to provide guidelines to support maintenance operations

Equipment Purchasing: Approve requisitions for major engineering equipment purchase to ensure that the department is provided with the appropriate tools to perform effectively

Contractors evaluation: Lead the evaluation of potential contractors for engineering services to ensure that they possess the required qualifications, experience and legal capabilities to supply the desired services

Work Monitoring:Review status on highly complex engineering work regularly in order to ensure that work is being delivered as per international maintenance standards and within deadlines

Human resources Management:Plan staffing requirements for the Department, conduct performance reviews of subordinates and to finalise staff development program and training needs to further enhance individual potential and contribution to the overall company’s performance
