JD – Alignment Engineer


Minimum Requirements:

A degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)

Charted Engineer WITH ice or equivalent

Proven Pway design experience

Familiar with Bentley InRail alignment software or equivalent

Knowledge in swept path analysis, crossover & turnout arrangements, cants, gauges

Knowledge in UIC, EN 13803 & AREMA

Experienced in the use of AutoCad

Experienced in the use of Microsoft Office programs

Experienced in use of International or Network Rail, London Underground &, Railway Group standards as well international standards, British Standards and Eurocodes

A full understanding of UK safety legislation including designers CDM regulations

Good understanding of pway construction issues

Good standard of written English and oral communication

Good communication, listening and mentoring skills

Stressing experience would be advantageous

Commercial and Programme awareness

Ability to develop good client relationships

Strong interpersonal and team working skills

Ability to work unsupervised or with the minimum of inputs and to take a project from remit to deliverable to technically high standard within the budget/program constraints

Ability to work collaboratively internally and with the Client and other 3rd Parties


Duties Performed

Principal Engineer role on Pway design projects.

Act as a mentor to other design team members

Regular interaction and liaison with Project Managers and other discipline leaders

Attendance and contribution at Inter Disciplinary Check meetings

Detailed track alignment and setting-out calculations

Production of all associated CAD drawings

Report writing/review/checking and documentation preparation

Be involved in the wider company Pway community including undertaking checking and reviewing work from other company offices if required.

The successful candidate will also be required to develop responsibility for timely project delivery technically and commercially, as their experience and capabilities increase.
