Civil Structural Engineer


Minimum Requirements:

We currently have an opportunity for a Civil Structural Manager to join our expanding team in the Middle East and work on a range of challenging projects and specifically in our expanding Rail sector.

Degree in Civil engineering (Master degree preferable) + and MICE / IStructE training development close to Chartered Engineer (CPR). Min 5 years of civil engineering experience in rail, particularly metro projects. Proven site experience. Working for contractor experience is desirable. Experience of working on a Design and Built contracts. Competence in Industry Standard Software, eg Lusas, SuperStress and SAM. Ability to use advanced Microsoft Office in design and management work. Interested in developing innovative yet practical designs that aid speedy construction and value engineering.

Good knowledge of superstructure and substructure design, including foundations and retaining structures. Good knowledge of underground structures design (station boxes, tunnels and shafts, etc). Knowledge of geotechnical engineering. Knowledge on Health & Safety and Environmental issues as they apply to the railway industry. Project Financial control and management knowledge. Experience of preparation Design Program, Project Risk Assessment, Technical Specifications and Method Statements. Reasonable understanding of the multidisciplinary interface in relation with the railway civil works and associated external stakeholders. Good knowledge of sustainable applications in civil design.

Good communication skills including the ability to communicate complex technical information to people without detailed knowledge of structural engineering. Good communication skills and able to work as part of a team to achieve agreed deadlines and willing to work unsociable hours when required. Proactive team player able to lead and drive people and projects from concept to closure. Good optioneering and problem solving skills. Able to identify and develop innovative solutions to problems. Able to lead a team to provide effective delivery of a project. Personable, articulate, logical and creative, able to present arguments in clear straightforward terms.


Duties Performed

Project Engineer role including technical management, budget control, resource allocation and quality control.

Guide graduate engineers and contribute to develop them to technical competence

Coordinate graduates, CAD technicians and interface with our overseas offices (e.g. Middle East and Bangalore) to deliver the projects on time, budget and high quality.

Production of technical sketches/drawings (by hand and using CAD software packages)

Design coordination to interface with other disciplines in the multi-disciplinary project
