HSE Engineer


Basic Function & Scope

Supervises the EPC Contractor’s construction activities in a manner that achieves project requirements for safety, quality, and schedule.


Job Responsibilities

1. Review Fire and Gas Detection System Layouts. Review Fire Hydrant System Layout & P&ID. Review Cause and Effect Diagram for Fire and Gas Detection System. Review Hazardous Area Classification and Layouts.Review design of Active and Passive Fire protection systems. Review Sizing calculations for Fire Water.Review & Comment on the material and technical specification for Fire Detection and Fire Fighting System (including clean Gas agent).Review design & technical safety issues and deliverables. Review HSE Design Plan and Philosophies.


2. Participate in HSE Studies such as HAZOP, HAZID, BRA, HAZEER, etc. Ensure the outcome of HSE studies are incorporated in the Design.


3. Familiarity with QRA to liaise with consultant for QRA and other safety studies. Ensure preparation of loss prevention design documents including, Firewater Systems, hydraulic calculations, fire protection layouts, safety equipment layouts, area classification layouts, fire proofing design, F&G cause & effect diagrams, F&G detection layouts, firefighting and safety equipment specifications, Fire Protection Design Basis, Fire & Gas Philosophies

4. Technical understanding of Shelter-In-Place buildings requirements, safety and risk. Engineering aspects in Layout studies, HAZID, HAZOP, HAC, Building Risk Assessment, Concept Safety Studies, HSE verification studies, H2S – associated hazards / risks, fire proofing requirements, site environmental and metallurgy data, Consequence Analysis Reports, Fire.
